So, I actually weighed one serving of mixed nuts (30 g), and now I know why I’m not losing weight. It is so cruel to pack that many calories in such a low volume. 🤦🏽‍♂️

Well, I’m glad I never left! 👏🏽

I mean, how could you not think of @johncawley.bsky.social as a role model? A true scholar, and a good person. 🌟 Congratulations! 🎉

📢Open science alert📢 New service is being introduced by the Australian Bureau of Statistics for replicating studies based on population-level microdata. This is a great step towards transparency and reproducibility in one of the last bastions of restricted-access research 🙏

I stopped wanting to live forever after this.

Stephen Nuñez@socio-steve.bsky.social

One thing about the people who are on a quest for immortality is that I find it deeply weird and horrific. The idea of living forever is nightmarish. This isn't me achieving some sort of Stoic/Buddhist enlightenment (though i think the quest causes suffering). It's that the goal feels awful to me.

The Last Ditch lesbian bar in Massachusetts is currently the most famous bar on the planet. If they don’t start selling merch soon and shipping internationally, they deserve to go bankrupt.

I fear I may have fallen into a Japanese stationery rabbit hole on YouTube. I need to buy every pen, notebook, highlighter, pencil, pencil sharpener, mechanical pencil, sticker, pencil case, sticky note, …

Anti-globalists spent decades smashing windows and fighting the WTO with practically zero results. Trump rolled in with arbitrary tariffs and dismantled multilateral trade in an afternoon, dragging the global economy backward into protectionism.

Canada struck back at the United States on Tuesday with retaliatory tariffs on about $20 billion worth of American goods, including steel, dairy products, appliances and farm equipment, as the trade war between the once-friendly neighbors escalated sharply. https://to.pbs.org/4wYXfSg

I’ve been in Sydney over the last couple of days, and it’s a sea of R.M. Williams Craftsman boots. The company somehow turned a rugged Aussie bush boot into the undisputed default uniform for men in business—absolute monopoly on corporate feet.

When there’s a job to be done, no self-respecting Aussie will be distracted by a fly.

A fly just zipped into my mouth while gabbing on CNN. Next question was about the Fed, so I did what Kevin Warsh won't—I swallowed hard and kept talking. I figure folks deserve some clarity about the economy. (Postscript: The fly is dead. And I'm no longer a vegetarian.)

I concur with everything below. Didn’t we just have Claude come up with a counterexample to disprove the Jacobian conjecture recently? Good ideas are good ideas!

I finished a marathon yesterday, but, anyway, here’s an iconic photo—one for the books—of Alex Eala in her win at Centre Court over reigning Wimbledon champion Iga Świątek.

Alexandra Eala laying out in a fantastic photo from @jjlovestennis.bsky.social, Eala upset Iga Swiatek in straight sets at Wimbledon "Sometimes you just instantly know that something's the photo of the day...maybe the tournament even. I can't recall ever shooting anything similar to this."
