PSA for anyone falling for the clickbait headline: 1. it'll only affect PUBLIC /DISCOVERABLE/ servers. Not just normal public servers 2. it'll only affect NEW messages, not old ones 3. it's trying to address "everything lives in discord and not in public forum/wikis"

it's crazy that discord is like finally taking steps towards softening the blow of one of its worst cultural inflictions but people are mad about it because accounts that post Discord News have made fearmongering and taking shit in bad faith into their job

再掲 #popn_art

like the point of this is so obvious discord stated it themselves; it's to stop making it impossible to find patch notes, help requests, and other shit that's genuinely useful to find from a search engine, when it's locked in a discord server

I cannot stress this enough, this is a good thing, and the ability to opt-out of something like this is also a good thing, however this is only for: Discoverable Servers With >1000 Users In The Server.

every single reporting of this new feature is extremely obnoxious because its fearmongering about a highly requested feature that stems from discussions surrounding troubleshooting and whatnot becoming relegated to closed off discord servers instead of public forums and discussion boards.

If you're in ANY discoverable Discord server, you need to update your app and turn off this setting or your messages will start appearing in Google Searches, which is ridiculous but true starting in December: Link to source ▶️ www.dexerto.com/entertainmen... Where the setting is below ⬇️
