SubManager is ready for #iPhoneDuo! Every screen has been optimised to take advantage of the expanded display, with side-by-side layouts that let you see more at once.

Kicking off my slew of iPhone Duo app updates with the newest release of my (niche) domain lookup tool! Next up, @submanager.app which I'm really excited about. Homepage for Safari will also be getting a Duo update, it's just just a text box to set your homepage so not a priority, but it will come!

SubManager 2.0 launches on September 14 alongside Apple's new operating systems and takes full advantage of the new capabilities in iOS 27, iPadOS 27, macOS 27 and visionOS 27. Featuring Smart Import with Apple Intelligence, Calendar view, free trial tracking, Siri AI and more.

During back compat testing of v2.0, I discovered a critical issue where the app would hang on macOS 14 when viewing sub details. This bug also affected the App Store version, and probably cost me a lot of potential customers. I ended up backporting the fix and releasing an emergency update.

This is a good reminder that if you support older operating systems, to test your app on them every once in a while. You never know what bugs may arise that aren't present on the newer operating systems.

Today, @submanager.app turns 3 on the App Store. What started as a simple iOS app created during university to solve a personal need turned into a powerful subscription tracker with highly optimised apps across the entire Apple ecosystem.

Hearing how this app has helped customers keep their spending in check and easily cancel unwanted subscriptions truly means the world to me. It’s amazing feedback like this that keeps me going, and I just want to say a huge thank you to everyone for their incredible support.

SubManager 2.0 is my biggest update yet. Continuing the tradition of adopting the latest Apple platform features, this release will introduce automated importing alongside several new features. The beta is open to anyone who wants a sneak peek, and I look forward to sharing more details here soon.

The iOS 17 simulator is outright broken in Xcode 27 Device Hub. Doesn't respond to screen interactions but can still control it via the right hand sidebar. Reported to Apple as FB24674634. Backwards compatibility testing sure is fun...

TestFlight is fundamentally broken. Random users get a message saying the link has been revoked, when I didn't, and adding new testers sometimes result in a "No Builds Available" message despite having builds in the group. I have to repeatedly remove and add the builds and user until it works.

It appears Rosetta got automatically removed from my system after installing macOS 27 beta 7? Probably could have happened with previous releases and only noticed it now

It’s really great to see my subscription tracking app ranking in the top charts in several countries and being loved by users all over. The next major update will include some highly requested features. Comment if you’re interested in trying the beta out.

CALLING ALL APPLE BETA TESTERS I’m excited to announce that SubManager 2.0 is now available for closed beta testing. If you’re on the Apple betas and want to check out one of the first apps to include Apple’s newest features, this is the beta for you! More details and sign up link in the replies

This was my no. 1 requested feature when I demonstrated the app during WWDC week and thanks to Apple’s improvements, I can finally make this a reality. That’s not all, more features are in the pipeline. And this beta is where you’ll be able to try them out.

Thanks to all who attended the SubManager booth at the @communitykit.social Indie App Fair today! I’ve received a lot of requests for automating the adding of subscriptions. This is definitely being looked at and I hope to share more information soon. 🙂

If you’re visiting from a non-Apple device, the download button intelligently switches to a QR code, making it effortless to install the app on your iPhone.

Just shipped a new SubManager update making it easier than ever to add a subscription icon. Pull it straight from any app on your Mac. Pick it, done. Up next: full document importing (screenshots, CSVs + more), my no. 1 most requested feature. Can't wait for you to try it out!
