Make a durable argument you can improve rather than repeat. Measuring and mapping the “Discourse” - Agitate blunts rhetorical gamesmanship to find the point. Come help us prevent total epistemological collapse.: https://agitate-discourse.org

I know they're all gaslighting liars, but it's remarkable how thoroughly the "cancel culture" myth redefined "censorship" to mean "someone using their free speech to criticize me." Meanwhile, actual censorship is just fine for all these people.

The single most impactful social/cultural development over the last decade (that virtually no retrospectives of "woke" have engaged in) is the new elite consensus that moral judgement is itself inherently illegitimate.

My primary rule about voting is don’t be weird about your vote, just vote. This violates that. The college kids shouldn’t change their registration strategically to maximize vote impact but however it is easiest to cast their vote, they should just do that.

Tom Nichols@radiofreetom.bsky.social

Students should vote where they - or their parents - pay taxes. I use to ask Dartmouth students: "Who has a car?" Some hands go up. "Who registers their car in New Hampshire." The hands go down. "Vote where you registered your car."

I personally don’t believe America is too misogynistic to elect a woman. We can also get over our racism well enough at times. Electing someone unmarried in addition to those other hurdles may prove too much though.

Anyone who wishes to reinforce the informational chain of custody, should check out Agitate. Hardcore social epistemology, come and get it.

Ariel Edwards-Levy@aedwardslevy.bsky.social

If you post survey data, news articles, etc. without a link back to the source whenever possible, you are weakening the informational chain of custody and making it harder for other people to confirm that they're seeing accurate information. This holds even if you're mad at whatever it is.

All you need is for strict-daddy patriarchy to be ambient in the culture & then "you silly unrealistic kids can't have nice things" *sounds* right to people who don't know any better. That's what Republicans always say, so they sound like the strict daddy, so they're "better on the economy."

Incrementalism is billed as carving out and taking the tiny wins because that is all that is available but it feels suspiciously similar to what getting the barest minimum just so the conservatives don’t get too grumpy would feel like.

Is it possible that the Trump Department of Education created a national civics contest, then rigged the judging in the final when it looked like a Sikh kid who's the son of immigrants might win? They'd never do that, this administration has too much integrity. www.notus.org/national/ame...

DSA candidates are putting us on a slippery slope toward saving capitalism.

NYC’s small business owners have said it over and over: endless paperwork and uncertainty has made getting their stores up and running too difficult. So we’re cutting red tape, eliminating redundant permits (did you know you need a permit just to serve some ice cream?), and speeding up inspections.

I hate when people peddle disinformation that makes me defend shitty people. I don’t like them either but they didn’t say that and suggesting they did only hurts our cause!

“You have enemies on the left AND the right. That must mean you are doing something right.” It does not. You might just be universally detestable. You might have nothing to say anyone finds worthwhile. Rejecting all to your right and left does not place you in some sensible middle.

Accusations of bias actually have specific content that can be assessed. The left attack the BBC for justifying a genocide, the right attack it for having too many black people on screen. These aren't equivalent extremes that cancel each other out leaving only the enlightened centre.

Citizens united doesn’t need to be reversed. The core issue is wealth inequality, solve that and I don’t care what you spend your money on. National service is a dumb idea. Just make some good jobs available. Ending gerrymandering is a good one but bundle it with more election protections.

This was created in a lab to target my interests.

Today on Volts: I've got a nerdy one for you! I talk with political scientist @samuel-bagg.bsky.social about the epistemic crisis & its roots in social identity. He explains why factchecking & media literacy classes will never solve misinformation -- why something deeper & stronger is required.

I tend to think people tapping the breaks on certain candidates’ presidential ambitions, saying they’re better suited for another seat for such and such reasons are just hiding their true motives and opposition. agitate-discourse.org?arg=1968

agitate-discourse.orgAlexandria Ocasio-Cortez would be a good U.S. presidential candidate for 2028.See the strongest cases for and against — and weigh in. Where do you stand?

Broke: AOC should run for Senate instead of president Woke: AOC should run for president Bespoke: AOC should run for president, serve two terms, and *then* spend the rest of her career in the Senate

You are up to date.
