The journey of replacing this convenience with other sources is a community building exercise. You ask friends for recs, chat with sales clerks, grab an ice cream on the way back to your car, maybe even pet a cute dog! It’s not just -1 Amazon it’s also like +1000 for your community.

The amount of ish in my feed that’s like “great news! I’ve considered almost not posting on fb today and even hesitated as I almost deleted the app!” 1. Deleting the app is not the same as deleting your account. 2. virtue signaling about getting off when you’re not is not the take you think is

Saying out loud “this is hard” is good and necessary because there’s shame around admitting how much of a hold devices and platforms have on our lives. Thank you for being honest and vulnerable about that. You’re right it’s not easy.

And I gotta save a big side eye for those who are like “yay I did it!!! (I moved the app icon to my third home screen page)” You can do it and we are rooting for you!! In time you’ll build new sources and routines. We will get there.

Saw another “I’m not posting anymore!” Like okay dude they are still tracking and selling your data to the point there the tentacles are in everything you do I get the “my family’s on here and nowhere else” Try texting them or calling and see how a group chat feels instead

Yesterday I deleted my Amazon account (not deactivated.. not logged out… not delete the app.. but DELETED my whole ass ACCOUNT) which means all that’s left is WhatsApp to get rid of. Since it’s about to be merged into the main meta account center it’s a good time to do that soon.

Just saw someone saying “well I got my espresso machine in 2 days so can’t give it up” okay great news espresso offers free 2 day shipping and it took me under the length of this skeet to find that out! You can also DoorDash one from target. So many options for acquiring coffee in 48 hours I promise

I will never understand why people prewash every dish on the way into the dishwasher when you can just rewash the 1 or 2 that come out dirty.

I am assuming we’ll see a definition of “freelancer” soon because plenty of SMEs are freelance writers.

Cyrus Maxx@zyppy.com

Google issued a new definition of *Site Reputation Abuse* "An established first party site branches out into a new area primarily using freelance content because this content will rank better on the first-party site than it would have otherwise" This seems to apply to vast swaths of publishers

There are two separate Trish’s on the town page who stir up shit and get everyone fighting in the comments with daily rage bait. I really want to make a news announcement telling them the referendum passed to rename the nickname Karen to Trish and see how they react

Fun fact I have secret mushroom patches in each quadrant of the lower 48. Moving often is nice when you carry your friends, beautiful memories, and secret treasure maps with you into the future :)

Do you think mushrooms know how beautiful they are

I’ve got a chubby cherub cheeked thing going on and people can sometimes mistake me for being younger than I am. But when I transform and open my mouth wide to let out all the killer bees of my soul, they can clearly see I have 4 silver fillings 😒

“Everything is a scam” in action, from a cynical marketer: It’s 2015 at 5am in the San Diego airport. I am approaching the security area. I do not yet understand the value of pre check. The TSA agent is wandering around yelling far too loud for 5am. There’s like… 5 of us in line. He’s saying:

No other names, except the complete brand and product name for the Microsoft surface pro. I immediately texted my ex who just dropped me off: “This tsa agent is trying to sell us all Microsoft surface pros and I think he’s getting paid” “Okay honey thanks why don’t you take a nap on the plane”

So next time you see something that you’re not sure if it is fake or an ad, it probably is. Jk I don’t think tsa is getting paid by Microsoft to yell things in the air. That would be way too clever.

TSA agent yelling into the air at no one and everyone: “Remove your shoes, remove your laptops, phones, and tablets! This includes your Microsoft surface pro 3!” Okay I threw in the 3 He repeated this every minute or so. Each time the same thing - that surface pros were in fact a tablet.

I’m sick and tired of being sick and tired. “Why do they make me create an account to do anything on the internet” - my bf Can you outsource pulling bootstraps to AI? Oh and Everything is a scam.

i don't want to hear your most boomer complaint. what's your most millennial complaint?

If someone calls you out for toxic behavior and language, and your response is "Oh those who you know me know that I'm a great advocate/ally for {abc}" - I'm gonna be real, I don't think you are in fact a great advocate and are, in fact, full of something else 💩.

Me during every Taylor Sheridan show I’ve ever seen: “whyyy wtf this makes no sense these shows are so terrible” Also me: “I’ll get the popcorn before the next one starts”

The butterfly effect is def one of those movies I think about sometimes in that I can pinpoint like 5 moments in my life that completely changed my trajectory forever. what would have happened if I took the other road?

One of the things I miss most about living in LA and San Diego are the weekly chess tournaments where you meet some of the most wonderful, random people from all across the city. ♟️ Church basements are for my two favorite things, aa meetings and chess tournaments 🙃

Today I deleted my old, long abandoned IG account and X account. I quit Amazon in 2020 when it became popular for brands to offer 2 day shipping, so whatever I needed I just ordered direct or shop in store. I finally quit xfinity to move to municipal broadband service and i'm happy.

Besides wolfie and mule sauce, I have a walmart about a mile away and it's very easy to go there for weird things versus buying them online (like a shoe sole repair kit for $2). Last year I didnt get to a CSA signup in time so hoping I can do that this year budget and climate willing.

I also set up an account at a consignment store as a seller and it's just as easy to bop in there on my way out an about, pick up a little check and drop off some things that im ready to let go of. Going to push myself this year in terms of less waste, keeping my dollar in town a little longer.

I am still on Facebook marketplace because even though it is an awful awful place, I still use it to get rid of shit. I really want to delete my FB account but this is the one thing holding me back. I mean look at this mirror I got for free under a pile of trash outside a barn last summer:

Every company that publicly dumped Sticker Mule already had 10,000 stickers sitting in their garage. But the real question is.. Did they throw away their Mule Sauce? I admit, I did not. I kept it and we just finished it and now I am debating how many bad place points I'll get if I order more.

I left Verizon after 22 years(!) for Mint and it now saves me over $80 a month. After working on brand research for the past year and a half for Paylode, this one kills me the most - why do big brands take for granted their most loyal customers? Better yet why did I let that go on so long???

“I still believe in a Star Trek future” is one of the most hopeful things someone has said to me in the past few years.
