I’m mostly a bit iffy about Charlie Kaufman films, but holy shit Synecdoche New York is easily the best thing he’s done. A truly exquisite film.

This Robert Currie photo of Anne Carson on the phone is part of a long tradition of Nobel prize-winners getting the call from Stockholm. Staged, but still fun. Worth a short thread, I think 📷 📖

That’s some good news today. I was planning to reread Antigonick and Grief Lessons this week.

This was a great deal of fun to do - an “exit interview”, discussing the entire comic, with no restrictions on spoilers.

🐋 While I'm working on the website, I stumbled upon this painting I created a while back. It's called *40 Whales Left* : The North Pacific right whale (Eubalaena japonica) has a population that summers in the Bering Sea, and it has less than 40 whales left. It's on www.inprnt.com/gallery/kness/

This week kicks off a streak of four straight first time guests on Off Panel, and what an absolute pleasure it was to start it off with cartoonist Terry Moore, who joins me for a sprawling, free-flowing conversation about his life, comics, and career. It's a treat. Listen up!

This week on Off Panel, cartoonist @terrymooreart.bsky.social joins the podcast to talk about his life and career in comics, the longevity of Strangers in Paradise, the evolution of comics, going the crowdfunded route, his deal with Dark Horse, and a whole lot more.

Is Frank Miller's 300 out-of-print? Every time I've tried to buy it, over the last few years, it's been out of stock (at least in India).

More Ripley, first test with acrylics…honestly, I find them pretty tricky to control. Finishing with color pencils and ball point pen (and that's what really saves it) #EllenRipley #Alien #Portrait #acrylics #traditionalart

I don't know how well threads work on bsky but I'm gonna try and post all my fauxnimated Elric pieces in relatively high resolution in three connected posts. Here we have Elric, Elric's throne room, Prince Yyrkoon, and Princess Cymoril

This is a pretty good summary of why this stuff has zero appeal to anyone who actually enjoys making anything, and there will never be anything Ai companies can do about that. (Green absolutely torching his own credibility is just an astonishing unforced error. Write your own words!)

The specific focus in this video on the way these tools get under your skin and train you to depend on them is an aspect I personally find existentially terrifying. youtu.be/TtvICev9sBE?...

Do these … people think anti-AI people use AI? Like, through gritted teeth, sweating, hating every moment, but they simply must use the thing they hate? (Of course, it's projection, like it always is.)

I have one answer.
