Start by calling your county’s election office to check if ballots are available. After that, you can apply for a mail-in ballot, fill it out, and turn it in during the same visit. Don’t forget to bring a valid ID.

He is now detained in Louisiana, hundreds of miles away from his wife, children, church, and support network. Once again, the unnecessary cruelty of ICE/DHS has torn another family apart. We are all aching, but this just means it's time to fight harder.

We were heartbroken to learn from our community partners at We are CASA in Pennsylvania about the detention of Pastor Molis. He is one of our own — a Pennsylvanian advocate and organizer in the fight for freedom, justice, and community advancement.

He dedicated his life to helping immigrants and working-class residents become community leaders in York and Harrisburg. West York Borough Police, a 287g participant, stopped Molis because of a broken headlight and transferred him to immigration authorities.

Every day, nonprofits like ours do their best to make the world a better place. Our teams fight on behalf of clients and educate Pennsylvanians on their rights. We support each other, shaping the future of our organization through our efforts and strong community bonds.

“When the government releases a person from custody, there is an implicit promise that their liberty will be honored as long as they follow what is asked of them. These rearrests disregard a decades-old policy and sow fear and chaos.”

(1/2) We want DHS to know that we will keep pushing for full transparency and accountability. We stood up for our client when their personal information was subpoenaed.

(1/3) Every Pennsylvania voter has the right to be notified if their mail-in ballot is rejected for a mistake, because there are opportunities to ensure their vote still counts.

(2/3) A new report from Common Cause Pennsylvania & ACLU-PA shows that each PA county gives notice differently. It also explains which policies are better for voters.

(3/3) Mail voting has improved greatly, but there are BEST practices counties can adopt so that no one loses their vote over a small error. Read the report and use it to advocate for pro-voter notice and cure policies in your county:

Here’s what you need to know: (1/3) If you make a mistake on your mail-in ballot packet, you can cast a provisional ballot on Election Day. All counties now have to let you know if there’s a problem.

(2/3) In 41 counties, you’ll be told about the problem and can fix your ballot packet. In 19 counties, you’ll get notified through the Pennsylvania Statewide Uniform Registry of Elections (SURE) system, but you can only cast a provisional ballot on Election Day.

(3/3) Make sure that you are in the know about your county’s notice and cure policies by checking out this interactive map: aclupa.org/noticeandcure. Knowing your right to be informed creates a noticeable difference in the fight to protect democracy.

(1/2): We protected two of our clients from unlawful subpoenas for their personal information. But we believe DHS has been routinely issuing these subpoenas to suppress the First Amendment rights of people criticizing ICE’s cruel practices online.

(1/5): This week, the PA Senate plans to pass a Trans Ban bill - SB 1293. The bill would ban transgender girls and women from school sports and change how public schools and colleges assign teams.

(4/5): These are values important to all athletes. SB 1293 cruelly excludes vulnerable young people; it does not support school sports. We will continue to fight for the constitutional rights of young trans athletes in schools, and we need your help.

(2/5): SB 1293 would violate the constitutional rights and civil liberties of young athletes by allowing sex discrimination in schools or institutions of higher education.

(3/5): Banning transgender athletes does not protect women’s sports. Transgender girls and women join teams for the same reasons we all do, for fitness and to be in community with their peers.

Equity in education is under attack. But we’re not stopping our fight to make sure all students are treated fairly and their right to an education is protected. Don’t miss this chance—join our discussion about how schools and colleges in Pennsylvania can keep advancing equitable education.

70% of those convicted of 2nd degree murder in Pennsylvania are Black—this win is a step closer to righting the wrongs of our broken criminal legal system, which has unjustly devastated Black and brown and low-income communities in PA for decades.

Their courage and organizing pushed the Pennsylvania Supreme Court to act, ruling that these sentences are unconstitutional under our state’s protections against “cruel punishment.”

The legislature now has an opportunity to change the mandatory sentencing laws within the next 120 days, creating a real possibility of freedom for 1,000 Pennsylvanians currently sentenced to die in prison for 2nd degree murder.

For decades, people in prison, their families, and community organizations never gave up the fight to end mandatory life without parole for felony murder.

POSITIVE NEWS: Our client, Dylan Contreras Lopez, is home after being released from the Moshannon Valley Processing Center. Dylan’s detention created a profound sense of loss and worry, sending waves of anxiety through his community and his loved ones who awaited his return.

Jon took a stand against ICE's cruel deportation agenda by emailing a federal prosecutor. Soon after, he received a notification from Google that DHS had subpoenaed his data. Then a few weeks later, DHS agents appeared at his door.

Today, we raise our voices for the unsung heroes—the public defenders like Al Flora, who confront a system stacked against justice and fairness. The way PA funds our public defense system betrays our state and federal constitutions.
