Today's #MenOnMonday is to honour all the protectors, like the young man referenced at the end of this poem. A great many young women, especially natural caregivers, have zero awareness of the predatory side of many men. Thank you to those who step in; we need that, no matter what feminism says.🧵

Trigger Warning: despair, helplessness, death This poem is really meant for a different target audience, and will be somewhat preaching to the choir. The canary choir, in this case. It is an expression of the human tendency to follow rules but forget why they exist and blame the prophet/victim.

I couldn't resist this opportunity to present my favourite vampire: Now, if you see this, post a vampire that isn't Dracula.

#WildWalkPrompt #beak #humour Here is a slightly updated version of a poem from last February. It is a light, fun ballad written in a poetic form I call the Juniper Loop.

This is for Oct 2 morning. No peeking if you haven't gone to sleep yet on Oct 1! Good morning glacial erratic rock Good morning green-gold larch flock Good morning mountain summit, shy Good morning all in the Bluesky

#SomethingEveryday #Poem One of my favourites, one of my early poems here from a #vss365 prompt. The poem is on the challenges of living with an unpredictable #ChronicIllness and appreciation for #Caregivers

Dunno if this is my favorite, or best (as there is little distance between my best and worst). But it is my Braveheart speech to poets and creators all. ❤️ #SomethingEveryday #NationalPoetryDay #NeverDenyYourGift #poetry #poetrycommunity #writing #writercommunity #prompt @sonnetsmith.bsky.social

#SomethingEveryday #Thunderbirds Sept 30 is National Day for Truth and Reconciliation in Canada to acknowledge cultural genocide of Indigenous Peoples, honour survivors, and work to grow together with mutual respect. This is my offering.

#SomethingEveryday #HappyGoose The happy goose found her perfect nesting site. The camper top was high, dry and warm in the sun. That she had to defend the spot from attacks with numerous snowballs and a few brooms only confirmed it's desirability. Given all this, she was shocked when every egg 1/2

rolled off the edge and splattered. And we, cleaning up each mess, were dismayed that we had lost the fight with the stupidest wild goose to bear our national name. Canadian Geese lay very large eggs. 2/2

#SomethingEveryday #Rivers #LateToTheParty Today I feel grief Not even this alpine creek Can stream it away

#PoetsOfDoom #ArsPoetica #Can'tRememberTheSpelling There once was a girl who liked limericks But hated when people were big dicks So she'd take up a pen Write a verse about them So her laughter could shimmer quick

#SomethingEveryday #RiceCrispyCakes #fail Early in the pandemic, I bought a “spring edition” of Rice Crispies that featured some green and blue crispies. Since all was snow and mud outdoors, I planned to boost our spirits by making them into cakes, shaped as flowers. I had never made them before.

Cool evenings close warm days the golden hour, hours long early autumn: summer's swan song The floods themselves washed away left the old crusty banks as new riverbed under-quilts the secret swing hangs still, over their musty damp There, join I upside-down rise - soar - crown fall - arc - fly

The evenings are cool now with the long golden hours of summer's swan song that is early autumn The floods that have washed themselves away made crusty old banks bow down into fresh lining for the riverbed still damp beneath the secret swing So, I, too ascend soar crown fall upside down all

The two versions of these poems were inspired by my husband mistaking my swinging silhouette for a dead tree in the first photo. 🤦🏻‍♀️😓🤔 Which is fair. And really, a reworked follow-up poem from a different angle, fits the theme anyway.

I think @jenthorne.bsky.social is unaware of how truly apt her poem is (again). ❤️ "Everybody that reads [her] finally has to concede... youtube.com/shorts/Dra6B...

Third response for how we "use" math every day. As my newly 18 year old son says: engineering = applied physics = applied math. Even if you don't remember, it's good to have What bears needed load? Why do bridges last so long? Answer: triangles! 😃

#SomethingEveryday #numbers #PythagoreanTheorem For the changing curve You need the hypotenuse Formula's input (There was no line tool, so excuse my badly drawn ones. The hypotenuse provides the diameter and then radius to calculate the new curve needed so the counter fit in the space.)
