You know, I remember being so excited in 1976 for the bicentennial. I was 11, and it was a huge deal. Now, with 2026 about to begin, there isn't nearly the hope and optimism that I would expect for the USA's 250th. Either I'm getting crotchety or else the current cabal in DC has ruined it for me.

Nothing they do helps anyone. It must be tiring to be this angry all the time.

Great - I'd almost forgotten the sense of dread almost every morning, waking up to see what kind of stupid or dangerous thing the Orange Menace had done overnight. And here we are again.

So Felon Muskie is now saying they can't find $2T in cuts, so its down to $1T and falling. Basically they can either cut DOD's budget by 25% (try getting that through Congress) or else eliminate every other department in the Federal government. Sure...FAFO.

A free press SHOULD make those in power think harder about decisions that affect us all, for fear they will be called out and rejected.

It was not long ago I learned Pink Floyd's "Great Gig in the Sky" was all about mourning and emotional pain, without singing a single word. It somehow seems even more appropriate now.

Funny how the minions of the Orange Menace face fines and imprisonment for following his ideas, somehow hoping they will gain favor with Dear Leader. Yet he never faces punishment for the misery he unleashed. Make it make sense.
