I've spent my evening trying to not let it get to me that the first comment on something being available for wishlisting, that took 11 months just to get to Alpha state, called it vibecoded.

Step 1: Buy game company. Step 2: Say how this won't affect things. Step 3: Strip company down, writing off unreleased games development budgets as losses on your taxes. Step 4: Go on charm offensive about how much you love games. Glad to know my taxes will be refunding Silver Lake for Step 1.

Google clearly trusts older sites. I've seen Google searches AI summary about racing sims that send my own words back to me as fact, based on the fact that I said them. That's not good enough. When users seek information about 1993, they need a 1993 source (even if I get it back online in 2026).

Getting to 1993 on Google Groups RAS archive required you to press 'next page' 3,100 times. No way to skip there. That's hardly what I would call good access to information.

...and be fully indexed for searching from day one going all the way back to the formation of the group in 1993. Why is this important? Because Google has abandoned their duty to keep this data alive. Their Groups site, try going past page 1 in any group, viewing an old topic. The site is broken...

...PCs now running. Through modification and "training" (machine learning), I've used it for two projects so far and I think it's done a decent job. Slower than if I'd used a service (via a data center) by weeks? Absolutely. Worth not using one? Absolutely. ...

Both are text based projects, sifting through large volumes. The current one is a v2 rec.autos.simulators usenet archive (v1, I created manually via a forum import rec-autos-simulators.net ). Using multiple sources (v1, MBOX backups) this will be more complete, have sentiment graphs, mentions...

Ditto from this account. Like, we're ok, but we're not ok. Sometimes sh*t happens.

If any of you have been holding off on watching, subbing, following on other places or whatever, please consider doing so. Unforeseen circumstances will make the next few months a bit rough. Means I need to pivot a bit from the random stuff to what I feel can make money directly. Thanks.

Run-through of the intro sequence for Waterline, a 'space game on a single planet' that I am developing. None of the ships are final, obviously. #spacegame #gamedev

For learning, you dump memory, change something, dump memory, examine for changes. You'll sometimes get hundreds of things that changed and you have to eliminate those down to find the right thing. It doesn't just 'give you' a track map, but gives enough data to code one in the tool. #gamedev

I've been wanting to stream myself doing a full Indy 500 in this retro sim for a long time, but wanted to build a tool that would allow me to do it more effectively. So I have. #simracing #retrogaming

Even though it can use pads and sticks, I am using mouse and keyboard currently. The mouse uses roll-to-pitch, so you won't see a lot of yaw until I get out of coding so much and want a pad on my desk.

I’ve wanted to setup stations to have PCs displayed and ready to play for a really long time. Still lots to do, but you can see the direction. And no i have a lot more in the basement … #retrogaming #dosgaming

And he accepted it because he feels he deserves it. Let that sink in.

We just had a tornado. We’re ok. Lots of big branches down and we’re running on a generator. Others on our street lost more trees and property from them falling than us. We will be a while without mains power.

This database of information was very valuable to me when we started the process of trying to help my youngest daughter. Finding out about others with the same microdeletion told us what kind of life and challenges we could expect for her. Great resource.

I don’t think I understand #F1 rules anymore. Leave a cars width and make contact in a committed corner-penalty. Drift over and take a cars width away, with contact-no penalty.

My parents would sit with me for hours and hours typing code from magazines into our computers and trying to help me understand what they didn't. Although I let what *I* think of as coding go away, I did find it easy to teach myself HTML, CSS, PHP which led to my career through the Web site I made.

Has anyone else noticed that the ZX81 manual casually introduces arrays, FOR-NEXT loops, and conditional branching within the first 30 pages, as though teaching structured programming to nine-year-olds is a perfectly normal thing to do on a Tuesday? Because it worked. And nobody has apologised.

And, in turn, it's made it very easy to understand GDScript (which, to me, seems very similar to PHP) and now after nearly 40 years start developing my own games because I want to. It genuinely all comes back, I believe, to my parents putting the time in and computers pushing the belief on kids.

Awesome game that you should try.

Planning a summer road trip? 🚗 You should play Overland, our turn-based survival game about a group of travelers on a post-apocalyptic trip across the United States! 🪓 It's good to be prepared for anything.

Mouse control is pretty hard, and I've gone with roll to pitch for the defaults there and you can see my inputs from the dot in the reticule. You can also see factions at work (everyone hates pirates). If you have a ship manifest scanner you can see everything... #gamedev

It's very important that you allow your NPCs to express their anger in an appropriate manner. (This is a solo dev game I am working on). #gamedev

I haven’t watched any pregame stuff during the World Cup. Is the American on the right actually trying to be unlikable? A contrarian for the sake of, what? Because he thinks it makes his opinion of value? It really doesn’t…

Xbox laid off around 1600 people earlier this week, revealing plans to part ways with five studios at the same time. https://bit.ly/3T8pwat

I don't think I will ever be excited by Xbox ever again. Their strategy is self serving, board serving, bonus serving. They don't care about games. They don't care about their customers. They don't deserve your excitement, your money, or your time. I'm done, and I hope you are, too.

My head canon is that without the corruption of FIFA undoing bans the US would have put a reserve player on the pitch, they’d have had a breakout performance, won the game. We’ll never know.
