Anyone that wants to build a leftist movement in the US and doesn’t think that radical political education needs to be at the center of it should not be trusted. No more “it’s not my job to educate you.” We need to educate everyone. We need people to be angry that they are being robbed.

Advice to US - Expand coalition, ditch DNC, don’t stop, get off twitter, use blockchain, grassroots movement focused on education, answer questions rather than repeating slogans. Protect unions.

One of the biggest demographics that voted for Trump was young adult males… the same people that many leftists said “I’m not going to educate you” to. The same people that sought answers themselves and fell down the alt-right pipeline. We need to educate others. No excuses, no holds.

As a brazilian leftist I want to add that this only works if american leftist also take all of their efforts into removing every cell of imperialistc culture from their bodies and completely rebuild what being american means

"not my job to educate you" is in all senses the most alienating and stupid play possible. Its arrogant and useless. We should always be looking to build bridges.

personally, I think people like Trump win because a lot of left groups are extremely annoying, alienating, and off-putting. You don't help anyone by talking down to them.

Problem is not everyone has the capacity to educate. Those that do, I admire IMMENSELY. Because I can barely hold myself together let alone try to break through to the people who hate me.

Start with really bad states. TEXAS, ALABAMA, ARKANSAS. I know in Alabama, teachers take the tests for the kids, they're not allowed to talk about slavery, and the Trail of Tears was because of the Tears of happiness for being given new homes. It's horrific what they "teach."

Hear me out. Four year plan. Take prominent influential democrats, transplant them to battleground states and rural areas. I would specifically choose people who would be likely to contribute to their new community and had some influence. By virtue of influence, being a good neighbor, and cultural

diffusion. They stay put until the next election. They fit in with the local community as much as they can, but maybe they buy a newspaper. Join the board of education there. Write an opinion piece. Work towards that four-year goal. We need people to be strategic!

In The Jungle by Upton Sinclair, the main character at his lowest point wanders into a free socialist lecture just to have a chair to sleep in, and what he hears is what finally helps him pull out of the spiral. Leftists used to understand this is how you get people on your side.

I watched the clip, and I agree fully. When I say “radical political education” I mean the exact counter-mis/disinformation/propaganda that he’s talking about. That political education also includes the establishment of a political home, and trust building that counters individualism.

I’m pretty sure that’s what always gets us in trouble. People don’t like to feel talked down to and I se A TON of people on our side calling them idiots all day every day. There has to be a way to communicate and find common ground without calling everyone stupid.

No more gate keeping and jargon. Less theory, more solutions. Radically accessible political education that explains the system, our collective vision, and the villains who are standing in our way. Clearly. Simply.

So what you need is the modern equivalent to Thomas Paine's Common Sense, a pamphlet distributed in the lead-up to the American Revolution. Education isn't all that important, persuasion is. The Right never educates, they hate education, they put all their points into persuasion.

That phrase had a purpose to protect Black people, primarily women, from having to do free labor. It wasn’t meant for wide-scale use. Education is the critical component we are missing. Educating, politicizing, base-building, power shifting.

One of the other really clear opportunities is just getting white voters to go to college. The white voters are the ones who messed this up for everyone, and it’s really stark how their vote moved more and more to the right as highest level of education completed moved down.

For so long it felt like we leftists didn't understand the ways in which our ideologies were in the minority. When you're in the minority, you have to grow your base! You have to educate!

This is where I think zines/memes/short video can be helpful at distilling the basics for people that aren’t going to sit and read entire books written in language that can be inaccessible.

Admittedly I've been part of the "educate yourself" crowd because 1. I don't feel smart enough to educate someone else, 2. I'm not witty enough to debate, 3. Social anxiety sucks, my mind blanks the moment someone puts me on the spot, and I never have resources on-hand to reference.
