Folks, you know what I realized just today? If someone subscribes to my standard.site publications, it can actually outlast my domain. 😲 You can change your handle without losing your followers. You can change your whole blog's domain, without losing your subscribers. 💫

Feel free to correct me if I am wrong. In fact, I began transforming my site: preslav.me as a @standard.site publication, but I am yet to see the "killer" benefit of all that. Is there a place that explains them all in a sort of narrative, easy to understand form?
Yeah, I think that the reason the advantages aren't immediately clear is that the ecosystem is still shaping up. ATProto laid the foundation, but in order to realize the benefits we need apps running that do the stuff that is now possible on ATProto.

I think standard.site is cool because it's almost like the ATProto version of RSS, but with a way for apps to index ALL of the blogs that use it. For example, we can have a reader like Standard Reader, that is similar to an RSS reader, but with social & discovery features.
