@willsmith.fun regarding Tech Pod, I just got my SSD RMAd and decided that it’s time to try full-time Linux. I have living room hardware with Ethernet and was super excited about the Steam streaming news you talked about. And then you broke my heart telling me I’d need Windows for HDR. Sadness.

You can do HDR on Linux but it’s messed It’s really dependent on having the exact right software and hardware in the stack. Bazzite handles it out of the box on AMD, but I’m not sure about Nvidia.

I’m on Nvidia and also my local monitors don’t support HDR (or 4K) but the living room TV is both. How screwed am I there? I started with Bazzite, had problems that I thought could be solved with Cachy, turned out to be irrelevant, can switch back.

I suppose I can always just keep running the long HDMI cable which does give me HDR. It’s the virtual monitors that are always the hassle.
