This is Glinda. She is not a fan of men. Still gracious enough to put up a warning sign for their safety. 14/10 (TT: phoebeday71)

Our last rescue LOVED men and was very cold toward women, and any quick movements I would make made her cower. She loved my husband and didn’t care if I existed. She was abused before we got her and we think a woman may have been the abuser.

2/2 and she loved me. And I could pet her. She loved my mom but dad wow she was absolutely over the moon love for him. She also didn’t like newspapers so we figured young girls probably beat her with newspaper . Needless to say she does at 19 yrs old a very loved and spoiled dog.

My dad got one from the humane society Tiffany and she didn’t like young girls/women , wouldn’t let my 5 year old Come over to her would start growling. But she let me I was 24 and would get down on the carpet and put my head down in submission and wiggle over to her and she would do the same 1/2

My best friend rescued a chihuahua that preferred men. He didn’t exactly dislike women, but he bit several women in the face, including my friend. He also hated doorknobs. RIP Mister.

When i volunteer at the Humane Society (mostly to hang out with cats) staff will test dogs to see if they are afraid of me. Some of my fav experiences with dogs come from those 😭

That is a great idea! My daughter had a rescue who was terrified of men. This could be useful indeed! I always ask if a dog is friendly before reaching towards them to say hello. Not all dogs are comfortable with all people.

My dog is the opposite. I mean he loves everyone but he really gravitates towards boys and men. We travel a lot and he'll always seek out the boys who are playing or the guy who's just sitting there fishing. I'm secure enough to admit he needs his bro time.

Mine is half jack russell and half chihuahua. If anyone has the audacity to walk across the street a block away, she is making sure i know about it! Cesar Milan has/had a little black and white chihuahua named Spot and Spot would keep everyone in line when things got fussy. :)

I mean, do you have to wonder? If a man mistreats or is violent to a dog, especially more than once, then the negative association is going to stick. I get it. Poor thing. But her owner is keeping her safe with the warning sign.

The good news is it’s often due to lack of familiarity rather than abuse. IME men also tend to wear more of the kind of “shape” variation that can spook dogs— beards, hats, sunglasses, big backpacks. My dog LOVES my dad but will freak out and bark at him if he wears a hat. 🤷‍♀️

My rescue dog bonded with me the moment I picked her up but would hide from any male. For the ten years we had her, she only tolerated my husband because he was most often 'the bearer of the yummy things that come out of rustling packets'.

That is so nice. We did have a couple of men on the volunteer roster, but i only met one of them, and he and his wife ended up adopting Dave, a white dog that was deaf. You couldn't walk Dave and then not worry about him, so it was a relief for all of us who already had dogs at home. :)

My older dog is like this. He tolerates cis women, Trans people, and non binary folk. He has his specific cis men He likes. It's probably my fault he is like this. My younger dog loves everyone though. 🤷‍♀️

Very few shelter dogs are afraid of women. I always assumed it's because men cause most of the trauma, and I still believe that, but it's can also be that there are relatively few men volunteering in shelters, so there's less familiarity In either case, she's a very good girl

I worked with a dog rescue for years and 90% of our volunteers were women. I asked other men about it to see why they don't volunteer more and at least some of the feedback was that they volunteer for sports-related coaching type things. BUT I know a lot of men who are not coaching sports.

I think the forehead for maximum visibility, but I also know it would attract the exact type of man we are wanting to avoid. You know, to explain to us why we're wrong to feel that way.
