I volunteered at a local dog shelter for four years, and so MANY dogs were afraid of men. I don't have to wonder why.

I mean, do you have to wonder? If a man mistreats or is violent to a dog, especially more than once, then the negative association is going to stick. I get it. Poor thing. But her owner is keeping her safe with the warning sign.
