President-elect Donald Trump said he plans to institute tariffs of 25 percent on all products imported from Canada and Mexico, and 10 percent on those from China. Here’s a guide to which goods the United States imports from Mexico, Canada and China.

So you dumbass Trump voters are going to be fucked by him! What a joke all because he is going to deport immigrants! Great choice! He’s out for revenge only and you are making it happen! Fucking stupidity! Trump used you idiots!! Now we all will suffer! He hates our Country! Losers!!!

I can’t help but believe his “announcement” is market manipulation just like 2016-2020. We MUST be smarter this time. Trump is predictable and it’s time to see the forest through the trees.

Man, I'm just spitballing here, but what if the WaPo had talked about the inflationary impacts of Trump's tariffs before the election? Imagine if we had a critical press who asked intelligent questions and sought thoughtful answers prior to elections instead of after them.

If only the U.S. had an industry whose job it was to inform, educate & warn Americans & was dedicated to protecting democracy. It sure would've been handy to have such an industry in 2024. Instead, what we've got are overpaid circus addicts who #sanewashed a sexual predator/con man/dictator-wannabe.

"We'll only have the greatest inflation. No other inflation will be like ours." - Cheetolini At what point does the echo chamber for the folks who voted for this guy finally pop?

Donald Trump and his MAGA ghouls are only going after Canada because of the far-right's dislike of Justin Trudeau. This tariff madness will backfire on America, spectacularly. Good luck getting any cheap timber, next year.

Crude oil from Canada have become important to U.S. oil refineries, making up most U.S. imports. U.S. oil refining capacity is 18.4 million barrels per day, January 1, 2024. In 2023, 60% of U.S. crude oil imports came from Canada, up from 33% in 2013. 4.3 million barrels per day in July 2024

Is this just another distraction to lead us down a side path? Acknowledge it but we supporters of democracy must stay on track. Too bad MSM still picks up on each and every item trump throws out there.

This will hurt the Americans more, this has the potential to throw the country into a recession, and totally stifle new wood housing builds. So bring it on, hurt your own people

Tariffs aren't inflationary. While they (likely) do impact the price of goods immediately, there isn't a sustained increase over time like you see with inflation. Trump is misleading when he says that other countries will "pay" for it as that's not how tariffs work.

That's fair but why not avoid using misleading statements at the same time? Not trying to be argumentative but we are only hurting our own credibility when we make statements we know are misleading. We end up looking just as disingenuous as the ones who make the policies we disagree with.

Folks, because @washingtonpost.com can’t do the job of reporting, I will. These countries are NOT paying the tariffs. The importers here in the U.S. do. That cost is then put into the sale price of the goods, increasing the cost for you and I. We, the consumers, ultimately pay the tariffs.

On one hand, the assholes who voted for him will suffer along with the rest of us. On the other hand, I HATE that those who didn't have to suffer too. When MAGAs have to sell a kidney to buy eggs, they better not come crying to us.

Erge, when he starts reaching out to the EU because of Ukraine, The UK will be insulated slightly, I hope starmer doesn't bend over. It's always been a fear of mine that Brexit will end up helping the UK

The fools voted for tax breaks for the wealthy and corporations and tariff-based price increases for consumers and then blame the Dems for high prices and inflation.
