Post

I appreciate the direction, but honestly the blog post kinda reads in a hand-wavey sort of way. Sure, better moderation tools are good, but it doesn't really establish a root problem and the systemic ways it can be solved.

Maybe it makes sense to others, but I don't see a clear path that isn't just doing more of the same. Unless you're acknowledging those people who claim they do reports for pedophiles and predators and they fall on deaf ears. That's really the only big step here maybe.

First of all: I appreciate the transparency and the heads-up. I am age verified - and I approve of making the gaps lower. Question: The video mentions "Path to profitability" while also claiming "massive investments" - how good are plans such as the shop and VRC+ working out - do you feel on track?

As it's a private company, they can't difuse finantial data to the wild aside of what is public for investors. Most likely that means they have still new elements to improve but plan growth for the future.

I'm aware of that.. still hoping if there will be some vague response maybe. A direction^^. I did appreciate their decisions before though: like openly admitting that consumeable paid items (the snow machine) were received horribly bad. Reverting that was the right choice.

Do you.. Understand how money works? It costs them for every verification. Did you even watch it all the way through? They want to make it free as soon as they can afford it.

They had to let a ton of staff go last year and are only now starting to make money in the shop and things. They are still trying to break even at the moment. You don't know what you're talking about.

Still pretending like you arent just banning random groups that followed those terms already? Truly pathetic. I swear could you destroy your platform any faster with your lies? I see the people being hit yet the pedo groups still run free. We know who you side with.

Really good to see there are tighter controls being implemented and adult spaces are being considered better. But you ask that we report bad behavior and such to help keep the platform safe and action swift. Would that work even against communities the platform more directly supports? Who is exempt?

Long-term a lot of improvement of publics/improving safety (and making money!) comes down to good-quality worlds that can syphon people into activities. Game worlds, video-watching worlds, event worlds, and so on. Getting a curious teen playing good games keeps them from roaming weird instances.

Likewise good-quality and varied world experiences mean opportunities to grow the platform that isn't over-focussed on "letting adults be adults" (music events, social nights) or strategies that rely on catering to niche fandoms.

The solution isn't just trust and safety, or verification, or moderation, it's for VRC to be a diverse place where people can self-categorize easily. Recommendations are a smart focus, but you lot badly need to get Soba done at minimum to kickstart world creator interest again.

Speaking personally, I can't justify a nose-to-the-grindstone free _unpaid_ project like new game prefabs - things that get people connecting in a structured way - when the game's world creation tools are in a liminal space of having tangential modernization (world physbones, constraints)...

It kinda does, but identity verification is a whole different job than making vrchat. A partner makes sense. That being said it's not mandatory at all, it's only required if you wish to access 18+ curated spaces. It's a tradeoff that you are free to take or not.

Even if Persona weren't fucking liars about their own privacy practices, storing data for 'only' seven days is not privacy by design. Use a provider that doesn't store the data after doing the verification check at all!

You don't even need to do identity verification to do age verification. It is overkill. Outrageous that Persona is building ID profiles on people who just want to age verify.
