@dtupper.com I had a question about this. "we’re implementing a new system that lets **US** process and verify your information securely, and then immediately delete your personal information." Does that mean our Identification data goes through VRChat first? It's very vague.

I think it's just poor wording. VRChat tends to say things lwhich can be misinterpreted very easily. You usually need a dedicated PR person to help with that. I think what they mean is, compared to before, THEY can now store a hash (like passwords) to be used later for secondary verification.

If so, this is worse than the previous planned implementation. I sadly do not trust VRChat at all with my ID. Or does this mean this is something done on Persona's end. (Explicit temporarily storage of the data on Persona's end)

The FAQ now explains it. Once Persona is done, VRC requests only the data needed to identify unique IDs. I assume this is ID type, number, and country for some types. The raw data isn’t stored, only the hash.

I appreciate that the team seems to have taken into consideration community feedback regarding alt accounts, however given that the FAQ still indicates that only one account can be age verified, I will remind people to please consider upvoting this canny: feedback.vrchat.com/age-verifica...

They should not allow age verification for other accounts at all. It just makes the security problem harder to solve. In the case of needing bots for age verified events, surely they can make a solution for group owners to create bot accounts that can only access group instances.

This was added to the FAQ. “We can allow users to have more than one verified account using the same ID. Previously, this would have required keeping your full ID data with Persona. While this is not planned for initial launch, we are considering the feedback that you have given us.”

Age verification is HUGE And very good. Imagine age varified public, No screeching kids running around, and no worries about joining a game with the wrong settings. Super creepy guy joined a group instance the other day, turned out he was lying about his age too.

The transparency is much appreciated! It's a much needed feature for sure and I'm glad it's coming. My only remaining concern is VRC's current stance around alt accounts and not allowing them to be verified. Even if only to a limited degree, this is absolutely necessary for a multitude of reasons.

I guess their point is: If you are going through the trouble of verifying their age by using their government ID, especially with the new hashing method, why is it necessary to permanently store their birthday after the fact?
