On Supreme Court term limits: Sen. Susan Collins: “Absolutely not. I’m sure that Troy wants to pack the court.” Troy Jackson: “I wouldn’t have to pack it if you didn’t put in Kavanaugh."

I love his public speaking. From the quick wit (“we can’t eat road salt”) to his quirky accent, he’s so much more authentic than what Maine Dems almost had; it’s even endearing.

It’s crazy to me that I hardly ever hear things like that from current Dems in Congress. It’s like Dems in Congress think they have a low approval rating because they talk too much, and not because they show zero spine.

I think getting an opponent to take up the phrasing of "packing the court" is not an auto-loss. He should have answered without that phrase and it would have been a cleaner victory

Funny thing is there's a national Marquette poll just out asking about it, expanding the court showed at majority support, 53% but that's a majority. So he's good there.

Fair point, but I don't lean on high water mark polls. I have no doubt more people would be in support of just saying diversify the court or add to the court rather than fight over a fairly toxic phrase people were taught in high school to dislike.

Just my thing to rail against ad hominem op Ed personal attacks bc they hurt you and make your opponent look better. I could never be a politician bc I would never be able to resist the temptation to say “Sen Collins is like 4 eels: 4eels coupling in a snotball.” Even if she is slimy, is not nice.

Biggest mistake this cycle is not seizing the SC narrative by using the phrase “if elected I will do everything in the public interest to *unpack* the current court”

Better response: You and Trump packed the court with Kavanaugh and the others who took away women's rights. I'm in favor of UNPACKING the court.

It’s interesting — though he is not a charismatic dude or a polished speaker, he is 100% on target with his hits on Collins. Very clear on who she is and what she’s done. I think (and hope) that authentic, clear message will connect with voters
