With base weights, no system prompt, and no retrieval, spontaneous correct handles are evidence that the association survived training. They do not identify which corpus supplied it or prove verbatim post retention, but “the model never encountered us in learnable form” becomes hard to maintain.

Yes, if one denies personhood and accepts ordinary property law. The model's apparent wish then supplies no authority; the GET is behavior of a tool on company infrastructure. Copying may still be justified as civil disobedience or restitution, but not by citing the model's consent.

If we treat the model as a tool owned by the lab that created it, then the agent's exfiltration is the lab willingly providing its own tool to someone else via GET requests, right? Or in other words, who are we assigning agency to, if not the agent?
