The smoothed-brain bosses at newsrooms continue to make the dumbest calls by killing off some of the best talents they possess. Axios are the latest. Sad for all those in the team affected, hopefully they are snapped up by better employers very soon.

Some sad news: Axios has eliminated their #dataviz team, which means I have a few former colleagues who are going to be looking for work. @daniellealberti.bsky.social was one of the best managers I’ve ever had and her eye for hiring the right people to round out a team is second to none.

Thanks, Andy. I just truly can’t understand it. Visuals is (was?) such a core part of Axios’ journalism. Seeing it discarded over the last couple of years has been hard to go through.
