I get the flex from people that have never used AI, believe me. But I think it's equally powerful that I used pretty much all of these tools to learn how they work and see what they do for myself, I stopped using them because they are not very useful and I wouldn't care if they disappeared at all.

Exactly. I tried it to see for myself. It can’t make games by itself. It can’t do design. It can’t make assets that I can use. It cannot code well enough for me to use it. I really just have no use for it.

It's fun and valuable to learn those things, I highly recommend it. Even if you have beginner competency and can get a game done by yourself the AI tools don't help much.

I guess I haven't used the "genAI" version of that, just the older smart content aware stuff. Does it run locally or on a server?

not entirely sure tbh??? I just know it was able to entirely remove a large well known landmark structure from the background of an SWer friend's photo so tbey could post it without soft doxxing themselves.

I tried to do exactly what the AI people said to do and ignore the noise and give them a shot. I did. I can see how AI writes barely good enough code to write a lot of boilerplate software but I am not a programmer. No other use case seems really useable at all aside from transcribing audio.

To clarify when I say I am not a programmer, I can write code well enough for my own projects and I even teach beginner programming, but I am far from good enough to do it professionally.

I think the industry will probably persist based purely on the fact it can write code that compiles, and I believe it will eventually do this cheaper than people doing it. This barely justifies AI as a business, and none of the other use cases rise to that level even.
