I wrote about how I adapted material design with glass as the base material for the @heron.social Android and iOS apps using Compose multiplatform. It turns out "material is the metaphor" is a very durable and malleable idiom for design systems using material design. tunjid.com/articles/mat...

How are you handling contrast and reduced transparency across the two platforms? Glass is an interesting shared metaphor, but the content behind it can change the reading conditions from one screen to the next.

By trying to avoid the problem entirely lol. Matte glass doesn't have legibility concerns as its opaque. Float glass is defined by the platform, so it takes the user's device settings into consideration. For satin glass, I restrict it to the header so it only ever partially obscures content.

That separation helps: the material has a defined job instead of being applied everywhere. Keeping satin in the header also gives you a smaller set of scrolling and contrast cases to test. Thanks for explaining the platform-settings part.
