BlueSky has made me feel more welcome on the platform in the first few hours than Twitter ever could. Maybe it's the size of the platform which makes it feel "cozier" and less toxic, not sure 🤔

I suspect size and in-group norms are a huge part of it; early Twitter felt this way as well, although somewhat different because we hadn't learned as much about social yet.

That makes a lot of sense. Having joined this platform early on, I'm hoping that even with continuous growth I will be integrated enough into a specific bubble that I don't have to worry about "entry" like on Twitter where I'm kind of "floating" and looking around in communities but can't join in.

That becomes one of the design challenges of community building that I think Twitter was sort of terrible at; even with “suggested follows”, they didn’t figure out how to make someone feel invited in.
