The ship sailed a few decades ago, but I still think that the term "synthetic intelligence" is more accurate than "artificial intelligence".

From memory, in The Diamond Age (an early Neal Stephenson book), the accepted term in some future was Pseudo Intelligence, and they laughed about the hubris of the “original” term Artificial Intelligence.
