People responding here have not bought a new Ford in a while. There is an agreement you can have the dealership sign when you order a vehicle. They MUST offer it to you at MSRP. I did this and I got my exact ordered vehicle at the exact price promised plus tax.

The vehicles you see over MSRP are being resold by people who either backed out of the agreement before delivery or the dealership ordered themselves at a bulk price or someone traded in after driving it for like 100 miles [I don't know why people do that but that do]

The sales tax always catches me off guard. 8.25% is a lot of fucking money and sure you can write of some amount but it's still crazy. Anything you pay higher than msrp is on you though. The finance guy in dealerships can drop all the dealership BS extra crap if you are actually ready to walk

"Slate doesn't have a touchscreen" is a point in Slate's favor, IMO. And if manual window cranks are the price to pay for a car that doesn't automatically track me and record me on the manufacturer's behalf, it's worth it.

Of course, the model at that price will never be at the dealership but this one with all the upgrades can be taken home now for 40k. And even if you do get it at that 28k price, I would bet money that it can't be repaired without a proprietary system only Ford has. I'll take the Slate.

Yeah, dealerships won't like the commission on cheap EVs that don't need regular oil changes to bring the vehicles back in every 6 months for upsell opportunities. A $100k lifted heavy duty pickup financed for 5+ years at 7%+ with regular visits to the maintenance division is what makes them $$$$$

Don't think so. Different market. Slate's going to rock the commercial delivery market. People will see that truck with custom wraps and start pricing them, they'll be a bit cheaper and maybe with a longer range.
