You think I have tears in my eyes when I finish this book, but not at all, I have dust in my eye! Maus is one of the most important books in the world.

I gifted the version published in Catalan to my daughter 4 years ago, after we came to live in Germany. I wanted her to be aware of the history. My father had an uncle who got arrested in France by the Gestapo and sent to Mauthausen after fleeing from the Spanish civil war. He had a red triangle.

RS, "Rot Spanien". He wasn't a communist, he was 16 years old. After liberation, he went to live in Paris. He didn't set foot in Spain again until the 80s, well unter Franco's death.
