[Ongoing thread] The (*space) sci-fi recommendations thread I'm going to gather here all the stories I love, all the ones I recommend above all to those who are curious. It's just my personal opinion, of course, and there are bound to be things you'll like or dislike. 🖖 (*mostly)

1/ For All Mankind (TV, 2019) Hi Bob! I have to start with this AppleTV+ show because I've already managed to convince thousands of people to watch it. ✊😂 A blend of alternative space conquest, utopia, and intense drama, For All Mankind offers us such a beautiful “what if?” Season 5 in 2025.

2/ The Expanse (TV, 2015-2022) Beltalowda! A formidable geopolitical epic set in the solar system, The Expanse is the benchmark space sci-fi show of the last decade. There is an ending, but it's open enough to one day continue and adapt the last three novels (all nine books are also recommended).

3/ Battlestar Galactica (TV, 2003-2009) So Say We All! The benchmark for the previous decade. A realistic approach to a desperate situation, with a fascinating mythology and plenty of twists and turns. And many characters I still miss. It's amazing what they've managed to do with so little.

4/ Scavengers Reign (2023) A magnificent animated show unfairly treated by streaming services. This series follows a handful of crash survivors on an alien planet as exotic as it is dangerous. It's beautiful, it's poetic, it's a nightmare. It remains one of the decade's finest surprises.

I love The Expanse. Brilliant sci-fi. But it had a weird side-effect for me: It cured me of any desire to ever go into space, because its depictions of the dangers of working in micro-gravity terrified me. I've never experienced that level of anxiety watching sci-fi.

I'd like to add the Korean show The Silent Sea that is pretty cool, Starfield for its niche nasapunk visuals and Halo 2/3 because orbital elevator are cool af and not enough considered in the genre (also, it's more logical to build a spaceship in the space than on the ground)
