the floor for a swe in q4 2026 is that you must deliver staff+ impact. it really feels like we’re moving to a world where the only people who formally have the title “swe” will have $1m+ TC but simultaneously all other jobs will have a swe component

On the flip side there will be scores of “architects” doing similar work but mostly for consultancies and for a lot less pay. I’m still stuck on the belief that consultancies can find huge markets once they’re able to dramatically change their pricing and estimation.
