It transferred fine, and it sounds fine! But the tape basically fell apart, and so that was that, the last run through a machine for this 50 year old tape. I'll make sure it exists in a dozen places by tonight.

im kinda surprised we dont have a "cryoflux" for audio and video tapes. Unless we do and im just out of the loop. Read the raw flux data from the tape without actually putting it into a real tape deck, stressing the tape by playing it for real. Record the flux into a massive file then reconstruct it

At the end of the day, an analogue tape head _is_ essentially just a reader for the magnetic flux.
