Many years ago I clearly advertised a 32 MB Canon SD card that came with an ancient digital camera. People bid on it like it was a 32 GB card, then quite expensive, and the guy who won the auction either clearly wanted it or, more likely, was too embarrassed to complain when he realised.

Yeah, this. There's tons of esoteric old stuff that just doesn't work with anything newer. And a lot of it is in the sorts of embedded/industrial systems that entire enterprises are built around. "Grossly overpay for the archaic thing you need or go out of business" isn't a hard choice to make.

Honestly not a bad price for someone looking for a 32MB SIMM to use in a SIMMCONN to upgrade the MIDI soundfont memory on their AWS64 soundcard.

I remember buying my first MB of RAM in the early 90s. 4x256KB SIMMs. I don’t remember exactly how much it cost, but I do remember it hurt handing over the cash. I’m guessing something like £40 per module in 1991 money.

I'm not sure it's a joke, it's listed on Amazon directly as well. It's listed as memory for some older model printers, but i wonder if it'd work as a funny upgrade in some systems. A P1-166Mhz with 128Mb of ram could be funny.
