don't you ever get tired of paying $15 a month just to listen to your music?? you could simply open a program on your phone or computer for free. you could own the music you love forever. no DRM, no subscription. take it anywhere, do anything you want to it. burn it to CDs, record it to tapes!!!

sure, you could send that special someone a spotify playlist of your favorite music. but do you know what really gets the feeling across? a handmade mixtape of your favs. a physical artifact of love and effort, drawn like an arrow from your personal music library, shot straight to their heart.

if your crush leaves spotify, that playlist disappears... but your mixtape will stay with them! you know what else? having a personal music library is *fucking cool*. curating your own idiosyncratic collection is a sign of good taste! it's a big sign you're not just eating what the algo feeds you.

streaming's ethics, costs, and exploitation of artists aside, i want this thread to focus on why having a personal music library is good for YOU 🫵. and my personal favorite is that over time, it becomes a time capsule of who you've been and who you are now.

i can scroll through my now decades-old music library and find music i was listening to at a job i hated but was full of people i loved, songs i fell asleep to in class, the shit i was bumpin while we were tearin' up the streets of my hometown, what was playing the first time i kissed a boy...

music that takes me back to places i'll never be able to see again. music that brings back friends who aren't here anymore. music that evokes some of the best times of my life.

and YOU can have this too! it's never too late to start building a personal music library, filling it with songs laden with old memories, and finding new tracks you love to score your new memories!

if you're doing piracy... just be safe, ok. use a VPN. the other half of the equation is PLAYING music, and for this i recommend *whatever program you are comfortable with* first and foremost. but my fav is foobar2k for its customizable layout www.foobar2000.org here's what mine looks like :3

To load music on to your phone, you should use a cable connection for the speed of it. Android phones tend to have "Music" folders in place, fill it up! For Android music players, my favorite is Poweramp. It's a one-time purchase and it's gooood. Uhhh idk about iPhones. someone else feel free lol
