I’m heading north in four weeks for the We Can Reason conference in Alberta.

Do you not know who our premier is? There is no reasoning in Alberta. You’d be better off heading to Kananaskis, Canmore and Banff and trying to reason with a grizzly.

There is a large population of reasonable people here in Alberta. It’d be nice if other Canadians would stop dissing the province over a rural/urban divide. We currently have a 50% disapproval of our Premier.

Fair enough. I hope we see a change in your next provincial election. I was blown away when the NDP won. It's a shame it didn't last longer. I've been a long time NDP supporter, but I jumped ship for the LPC this federal election.

It is not the American people that we should be upset with. It’s their government. Trump is putting in place these terrible policies. Governments around the world dictate to the people who we should be friends with and who we shouldn’t. The citizens of the US are not our enemies.

“Without due process” is the key phrase. Doesn’t matter whether the gulag is in El Salvador, or Red Deer or Siberia. Due process is what establishes - the law, and the order - that is the main pillar of democracy the majority have chosen to live by.

Just don't argue that the usa can be trained with. This was thought about us after we annexed crimea and militarily occupied part of the donbass region, and then we launched a full genocide

unless you are Nativ Indigenous "Canadian" and have consistent recall of the missionary "schools" and your land being taken , ravaged , and then lauded broadly as gentle loving and considerate government . but undoubtedly , better than America . if that lowbar is really what you wanna brag about .

Hmmm, this brings up a good idea... What if we all try to commit to vacationing or visiting Canada this year? ...for those with the privilege to travel. Another way to show support to our northern neighbors and, to the American people, allies...

In all seriousness, if a US citizen travels to Canada & for whatever reason (or none whatsoever) ICE Border Patrol refuses to let you back in, would Canada grant temporary asylum as a political refugee? Just asking for a friend. Well, actually a whole group of friends. And myself. And my family.

Quebec City for starters. Maybe fly in the summer. Then catch Montreal and Toronto other years. We like to stay at least four days in a place. Slow travel. And I would like to visit Nova Scotia to see where my Acadian ancestors lived. I do get occasional DNA matches from Canada.

Make sure you visit Old Quebec. It’s like stepping into France. Nova Scotia is my neck of the woods. It’s beautiful. Halifax is great. Lots of Acadian culture. New Brunswick also sits on the Acadian Peninsula. I have a cookbook full of Acadian recipes.

Well, if you're looking for reason, we're not really the place to come but we're beautiful and you will find friendly people. Just don't believe our 'blueness'. Many of us are on the side of human rights.
