Duolingo seems to use ever so slightly different fonts for their prompt and response text and I've never noticed before. 八 here just looks like ハ in katakana for some reason?

It goes deeper. The same thing happened when I wrote this post! Is there actually some distinction when writing this kanji that I'm unaware of or is it just a font quirk? Why would blue sky use different fonts for this though?

Only occurs on android, so presumably just a font thing. I recently learned that traditional and simplified Chinese as well as Japanese, all use an overlapping unicode range, but by convention they render some characters differently. Huge pain when rendering mixed text (i.e. social media posts)
