I keep seeing book banners framed as concerned parents. I've talked with dozens of political operatives who ban books, not a single one of them has been a parent of a child in said district. If they have offspring at all, they're 47 years old, and have been no contact since the divorce.

Yeah…I found myself in a M4L feeder group in Louisiana. They were openly looking for people to read books to “look for inappropriate material.” A lot of the people in the group were either parents or teachers.

We recently fought a book ban in our school district. None of the operatives had children in the school district. Despite repeated statements that parents can call the school and opt out of allowing their child to check out books that don't align, it just wasn't enough. #somuchforparentalrights

When my book was banned in Kentucky, I flew in to speak at a city council meeting. After, every person in the room came up to me one by one to whisper that secretly they're on my side. If they communicated, they'd know the only ones who wanted books banned had driven in from Ohio.

I've heard the proposal of requiring book-banners and -challengers read the books they want removed and write a report detailing their concerns. That should be made the standard nationwide.

American kids are graduating HS with 6 to 8th grade reading levels hell I’d let them read porn if it upped their reading time. These parents don’t go to PTA meetings or parent teacher conferences only get on the angry bandwagon. If a group has the words liberty or patriot or heritage run

Concerned parents educate and talk with their children. They do not just decide to ban books based on personal prejudice. How will children learn if we do not give them ideas to think about and conversations to help them think??

Those same banners of books, claim that they saw “Furries” and these “Furries” were using littler boxes in the classroom. Funny how no kids have ever come home after seeing all those Furries, asked Mom if they can get a furry costume and shit in a box in classroom. Kids share everything they see.

This all comes from someone desperately wanting something to be mad about seeing kitty litter in a school supply closet and purposely ignoring that it is a school shooting emergency preparedness kit.

We had bins of kitty litter along our long hilly driveway and in our trunks for when we got stuck in the snow/ice and needed traction. It has multiple great uses!

They refer to themselves as concerned parents because if they admit that super PACs are paying them to utilize their boredom and bigotry for political and financial gain, the super PACs will stop funding them.

lol at the anti-library activist loudly refuting this thread by saying parents don't ban books. I know you don't read, but at least read your own screenshot in your own tweet. That's literally what this thread says. Interesting the parts he DOESN'T refute.

This has changed the way librarians tactically deal with book challenge requests. Many libraries are implementing policies where you have to live in the area, be willing to sign your whole name to the challenge which becomes a public record, and *have a child* if you say it's unfit for children.

This has become such a big issue where I live that they had to make an amendment stating you can only submit one book for review a year unless you have kids in the school system. One guy submitted the bible in protest to make a point. That’s about the time the rule was updated.
