that new tunic looks like absolute garbage but i genuinely loved how everything else looked in the oot remake. we have so much room to try new and weird things with older games, and while making something look like an UE5 fan game isn't necessarily unique, i think its a welcome experiment

i have some other hangups about some of the designs (im sorry but there isnt a universe where you're gonna make me like that sheik design) but the overall presentation is kind of a dream come true, especially the world design. that shot of link entering the great deku tree was genuinely breathtaking

oot has had iterations and rereleases in the past -- a 1:1 remake with updated visuals already existed on the 3ds (AND SHOULD BE PORTED TO OTHER SYSTEMS) and i think we're at a point where we can look to the community for anything further than that, so seeing nintendo get real cinematic here is fun

i genuinely wish nintendo was a company that wasn't so strict with its IPs numerous people have a differing view for how their older games "should" look if remade, but i don't think any single fan project could ever replace the original in a substantial way

i kind of agree, yeah. it's just so much more meaningful when the original creators get a say in how revisiting their old games get to look and feel. it's very rare when a community project makes me go "that's exactly how it should look!", but i don't think it's impossible

the voice acting is terrible as usual and its still so fucking weird that nintendo is the only company to now consistently have voice acting in their games and it consistently sound horrible. truly unneeded addition that i think will be jarring the entire way through the game. embarrassing as always

overall i think it looks really really cute and i will probably have a lot of fun playing it and seeing all the things they updated. watching link happily skip through the castle town thinking about how it will look after becoming adult link made me wonder how theyre gonna handle stuff like jabujabu

AND ANOTHER THING: i think it's really cute how you can play songs on a real life ocarina and they get played in the game. i wonder how exploitable that is, like if you can play songs on other instruments or say certain phrases like in the family feud TAS to play the song of storms
