Happy birthday, Betty Carter! #happybirthday #music #musicsky #jazzmusic #jazzsky youtu.be/eHvBeDPTn_Q?...

RICH SOUND & LUCIOUS PHRASING . . . Wouldn't you love to be able to stand in front of a bold & brassy Big Band and effortlessly (seemingly) belt out an intimate, enticing love song? Nice work if you can get it . . . and she did! Wonderful post!

She sounds so great, especially in this period. I also love the 70s records that she put out on her own label, BetCar.

Thanks, I'll check it out! Just like the very early recordings of Billie Holliday . . . one-of-kind and truly unbelievable.

Agreed!

Just a few moment ago, I discovered that my late-wife's great aunt (Elizabeth Mulliner Luboff, one-time spouse of the legendary Norman Luboff) helped to "give birth" to a jazz classic . . . "Someday My Prince Will Come" . . . with this recording in 1944. COOL! secondhandsongs.com/performance/...
