Joel Young is at a rail transit conference in Europe tonight (AC Transit has 0 railroads) and I am in Oakland waiting for a bus that has been 0 minutes away for 10 minutes

Heads up, tonight‘s board meeting has been canceled for lack of quorum. This is the first time this has happened in my 6 years on the board. 2 board members were calling in from Europe, one member planned to call in for safety reasons, and Young was planning to be absent.

You have a transit board member who is willing to at least appear to learn from industrial best practices in Europe. Rejoice in that. For most of us, that would be a miracle. And a board meeting getting canceled for lack of quorum isn't a big deal in the grand scheme. SEPTA does it every August.

I, a person who has never lived in California, knows unfortunately far too much about how Joint Powers Authorities work, to know that this may be true but is also entirely misleading.

I would encourage people to hold in their heads two thoughts: 1) This guy sucks, 2) transit riders would be better served if transit policymakers were more aware of global best practices

OK, so this one guy is an asshole and at least mildly racist, copy that. That makes it *more* important to not yell at him when he does something ~right! Because the *next* person needs to know what to do and what to do the opposite of.
