Why can I not just set a mesh's origin to the selected vertex in edit mode in Blender? I know how to select a vertex, shift+S to set the 3D cursor to selection, switch to object mode and set the origin to the 3D cursor, but this has always felt like way more steps than necessary. #blender #b3d

I use MACHIN3Tools for all my day to day blender stuff and can’t live without it (recommend checking documentation, maybe it’s something you also didn’t know you needed), my Shift + S looks like this in edit mode: Lower options allows to quickly change origin to something, depending on context

Oh wow yeah this addon looks amazing. An overwhelming amount of features haha! I’m curious what are your favorites / most used?

Machin3 have several addons dedicated to Hard surface modelling, but I found Tools incredibly useful for low-poly stuff I revisit documentation once in a while to remind myself of some features that I’m using not so often Oh! Also I use align pie a lot to quickly align verts by just dragging mouse

Thank you for these responses! Yeah I'll definitely need to dig through the docs to explore everything haha. The pie menus look amazing. I'll look at box cutter / hard ops too!

Switching between modes with pie on Tab, connecting vertices by different rules with just one button (smart vertices) also creating new object out of selected faces with one button, mirroring objects Also Shading Pie to quickly switch between shading views, Snap pie from previous message
