Just an FYI on the bluesky profile links thing: They started just blocking onlyfans and fansly, then expanded to cover a bunch of link shorteners explicitly because adult content is linked to through them. Fuck you @bsky.app . Proof: github.com/bluesky-soci...

Seems the situation has been unfucked. bsky.app/profile/alex...

some folks reported not being able to use certain adult-focused platforms (like onlyfans and fansly) — there was an internal miscommunication and these were accidentally added to the list of disallowed domains. this is now fixed! but you may need to refresh your app to get the update. 💙

I don't even think "block URL shorteners from being listed" is a terrible policy but jfc that is insane. "Our own policies caused this problem which we will now attempt to solve by making things even worse for creators, also this feature is going to be targeted at creators" like lol. Lmao even.

not just creators, but adult creators, who are already actively targeted by payment platforms. The least bluesky could do is let them do their best to survive, as many of them do. But no, we have to fuck them over more, surely there's nothing we can do! /s

For sure, def do not want to minimize that this is yet another in a series of undeserved attacks on adult creators in particular, just felt that was the clearest way to illustrate both points within the character limit.

bsky.app/profile/pyro... for further details on the server-side link blocking they have as well.

Okay I did a check and bluesky now has a "safelink" service that it also checks URLs against when saving them as profile links. It currently doesn't seem to block anything(I checked a LOT of random urls, including shorteners, adult content sites, etc), at least atm, but this is a server-side method

Further note: None of this prohibits you from manually adding them via editing your profile directly via a site like pdsls, but this isn't a good solution for non-technical users. Bluesky should not be adding these restrictions, except for stuff like malware and scams. Adult creators should be fine!

I tried this and it got labeled porn and is hidden in the app, which raises the question of why they’re not allowing them to be input in the first place

(as in, they should be treated like everyone else, not that they are being treated well rn)
