Started a very productive playtest of my romance story game, Road to Romance last night. We got half way through and hope to pick it up after Metatopia.

It feels like a rich set of possibilities for gaming (and possibly opening up things to new gamers)

There was a sports romance with @czamboni.bsky.social playing a tennis coach who lost her big chance because of injury, and is falling in love with the up and coming young star she is coaching.

I *will* admit this was inspired by the excellent film "Challengers" but it took a very different direction early on. Steamy stuff for sure! And it was fun to play romantic tension with the wonderful @sociable-turtle.bsky.social :)

An adventure romance with @backwardsttrpg.bsky.social playing Indira Jones, an entomologist falling in love with the rich sponsor of her Colombian expedition

Excuse me, you mean the dashing, athletic, charismatic - and yes, also filthy rich - Sebastian Peabody, lover and supporter of all scientific research? 😎 I'll fight for you, Indira! And whatever bug you're chasing!

To say nothing of his cocaine problem which has him in deep problems with the gorgeous Maria Fox and her Colombian narcotics gang, and who is trying to kill Indira for attempting to steal ’her’ man!

A contemporary gothic romance with @sociable-turtle.bsky.social playing a timid researcher logging her grandmothers belongings while a clever lawyer working for other side of the family is taking a shine to her

The player behind the ‘trouble’ in this story is “Opposite Sides” - they represent the family who have hired the lawyer to ensure that they get all of Grandmothers money and the timid researcher gets none - and they keep contacting him with instructions that put him at odds with her…

And I was playing a wizard sent to persuade a rural community to leave their homeland because of the blight (which I accidentally created shhh) and I’m falling in love with the beautiful leader of the community.
