y'all probably know i ❤️labelled data. the dev version of {ggplot2} has a new feature that automatically applies variable labels when plotting 😍✨ thank you @teunbrand.bsky.social!!! 🙏 #rstats

I learned SAS in grad school and it was drilled into me early on to always label my variables. Have fallen out of the habit since switching to r, this might get me back to it. Though I guess there is the labelled package. I just keep forgetting about it.

Hi Shannon, do you have a post/thoughts on value labels? currently importing a 657-variable survey, and thinking about just using ordered factors with levels and labels. Also, thoughts on pros/cons of keeping integer values attached? e.g. 1_Yes, 2_No, 3_No_Answer 4_Dont_Know

regarding coded integer values, it really depended on the wrangling/analysis objective. in pharma, it is standard to have two columns per response, one containing the coded integer value and one containing the text string.

If you work with data in R then you should 💯 watch my posit::conf talk "Context is King" to discover advantages and workflows for ✨variable labels✨ in R. 🥳 #rstats youtu.be/eoI9QZdHBMw?... The twice rejected, finally accepted backstory is also available😊 www.pipinghotdata.com/posts/2024-1...

Excellent! I'd seen the labelled package before, but I dismissed it because the description is so focused on SPSS data importing. As your talk shows, it's a great package for R alone!
