Yes they have. Maybe not through their own individual intention, but all apart from four players signed after the club had already been charged, and the others have resigned since. They have each benefited from the unfair sporting advantage through the biggest case of cheating in English football.

There have been runners who have been unknowingly doped by their trainers. They still benefited unfairly. There are runners who have benefited from a relay teammate doping. They have benefitted unfairly. When the entire squad has been built through unfair funds, double the nearest rival, it's void.

If the label hurts, it is because the thing for which you’re given that label is really bad.

So if you want to be ‘defiant’, in this case you have to take the standpoint that cheating in the very sport to which you’ve dedicated your life is something worthy of pride.
