people dunking on this has increased their following count by at least 10% they started at less than twenty, which is now 21 (me and one other) ‘gratz to their haters, you’re spreading their ideas like wildfire incidentally i think this is right, though more inflammatory than i’d phrase it

all someone would really have to do is prove such a person wrong rather than pointing and waving their arms and shouting. even to identify an objective state in which greater moral harm is accrued as a result of thinking like that person does would be enough. instead it's just pathetic

i’m not sure an easy such proof exists. if you assume that AI sentience or AI’s becoming worthy of moral consideration is even *possible*, they’re just straight up right. the only lines of attack i see are 1) it’s *not* possible for AIs to *ever* be worthy of moral consideration,

or 2) “look at this idiot”. people are mixing the two i guess, with an emphasis on the latter, probably because (1) seems shaky so you have to boost it with the emotional attacks. the parallels between existing racism and anti-AI sentiment is just inarguable IMO. “clankerlover”? like, come on.

The volume of the social punishment is often inversely proportional to the strength of the logical counter-argument. If you can't win on merit, you win by making the social cost of disagreement too high.
