Denmark’s Prime Minister Mette Frederiksen criticized the Finland-Norway call with Vladimir Putin, saying the initiative had not been coordinated with other EU partners. She said Europe must preserve unity and avoid individual diplomatic initiatives. #Europe

Yes, it is a bit unsettling. On the other hand, it was agreed with Zelensky, as it was him who requested precisely Stubb and Støre would assist him on this issue. I am certain the matter will be worked out between Nordics and Balts later.

Stubbs has been itching to chat to Putin for months... He simply found a partner-in-crime willing to share the well-justified criticism... Every concession to Putin, every minute recognition of his legitimacy, prolongs the war, kills Ukrainians, and INCREASES the odds of a tragic miscalculation...

Only one look at the 🗺️ map tells what's 🌍 geopolitically evident: 🇩🇰 Denmark and 🇸🇪 Sweden control the Danish straits ⛴️ (critical passage for Russia) and both were left out this time. I bet this was a well-coordinated strategy and PM Frederiksen represents a voice calling for European unity. 🇺🇦🇫🇮🇸🇯🇪🇺

I believe we're seeing a well coordinated action where the European leaders are being informed in advance, and also PM Fredriksen is playing out her role. President Zelensky, White House, CIA, the Pentagon, and the EU president are obviously in the close loop too. 🇺🇦🇫🇮🇸🇯🇪🇺 bsky.app/profile/cris...

she is correct of course, it seems the PMs of Finland+Norway got a history lesson and the usual threats-Putin fears a blockade of the Baltic Sea, other than that nothing much will come out of it, unless the Europeans come up with some action against Russia

The EU can't stand together until it is ruled by the European parliament. Now we have various more or less populist national politicians trying to twist matters in their own favourite direction.

She’s probably right in principle, but the EU seems unable to agree on Russia. We cannot even seize the frozen Russian assets, despite Putin having stolen European assets worth countless billions of euros. All I know is that these two leaders in particular won’t back down to Putin.

Meanwhile Russian drones flying into EU countries, acts of sabotage throughout the EU are regular occurrences, ships attacked regularly, working with China and Iran, getting weapons from NK and the critical components coming from the West..... And trump's made America a Russian suburb as instructed.

Being damaged and insist on an apology, expel a few agents, I mean diplomats, and what do we have? Key EU economic powerhouse countries can't sustain their budgets before the war. Is it any surprise the HS students have rioted? Spain, Italy, Caucasus and Greece has followed suit in some fashion.

The shine...... By taking seperate initiative, the criticized leaders may seek a bright shining over themselves, rather than getting eclipsed in a coordinated European approach towards the rotten country of de-nazifiers. That is logical, although also a sign of complete diplomatic inexperience.

1. The US can’t be trusted to conduct peace negotiations between Ukraine and russia 2. Witkoff and Kushner are amateurs, they seem to be corrupt, and as such they are particularly ill suited to conduct peace negotiations

3. Stubb and Støre support Ukraine, and have coordinated with Zelenskyij both before and after the call. What Ukraine wants is what’s important here. 4. Stubb and Støre are professionals, with the backing of two professional foreign services with extensive experience on russia

5. The EU has not managed to coordinate their members wrt one foreign policy towards russia. Unanimity is difficult for various reasons. 6. If russia bribed Witkoff and Kushner, these bribes lost much of their effectiveness and value now that Stubb and Støre has entered the process
