I thought it would be fun (or at least interesting) to do some FAQs and answers on the #RustLang consulting I offer (I have availability from pretty much now, if this sounds useful)...

- Can you write code/do design work/offer general mentoring to junior engineers? I can! Though it depends on my availability. Right now I have time for some general engineering work, but not enough to be on a critical path or to take on a large project. I might have more time later in the year.

- How many people can you work with? Depends on what you need from me and my availability. 1 to 10 across 1 or 2 teams are good numbers. If only some people need hands-on help and some just need occasional support or code review, then I can work with more.

- How long is an engagement? Three months is usually good for an initial period. I can stick around longer if needed, but probably for less time per week. It might be useful for me to do more development work at that point, if there are components which are tricky Rust, but not too domain-specific.

- How do I help? Clients have told me that an hour-long 1:1 has saved them weeks of effort. Getting human answers for your questions will speed up your Rust journey. By tailoring explanations to your understanding, I make the infamous Rust learning curve smoother and less frustrating.

I'll help you spot issues before you waste time exploring dead ends; and can help you find and evaluate crates from the ecosystem which will save you implementation effort. I'll help you with Rust idioms and best practices to get you programming like an expert, quickly.

I can give you confidence in your unsafe or otherwise tricky code. I can help debug issues, find performance issues, and solve type and lifetime problems.

I also bring 20 years of software engineering experience working with big and small companies, up to principal engineer level. I can help teams with product launches, project management, working with open source, communities, technical leadership, remote work, and tackling hard engineering problems.
