I'll take the job. Prosecuting everyone who has enabled or abetted this president and this administration is a hefty job but I am up for the challenge. I'll have the indictments ready day one.

If not then back to the Hague -ICC sure could use him again. So many Trump and regime crimes! Putin crimes. Make them banished from 126 nations! They must pay consequences!

I agree with the general point, & I'd be OK with Smith as AG. But I'd recommend the same person now as in 2021: Andrew Weissmann. He did a great job on Mueller's team. Every time I hear him, I'm impressed with his clarity & analysis. But reappoint Smith to finish the job re 1/6. Accountability!

I want Jack Smith, but a hyped-up real asshole version of him that will be OBSESSED with prosecuting crimes of all the traitors from the past 10 years

Jack Smith seems like a great choice. But he still hasn’t explained why in the world classified docs case was moved from D.C. (where the crime occurred) to South Florida where Trump-friendly Judge Cannon derailed the case. Inexcusable decision.

Yes he has. And we covered that extensively on the podcast. He didn’t move it. He chose to bring the charges in Fl because that’s where the crimes occurred. If he brought them in DC, Trump would have challenged the venue and won, but not after delaying the case another year.

Jack Smith should be nominated to be the next Attorney General on Day 1 of the next Democratic Presidency. In addition, that same President, on that same day, should head down to a few Trump DC monstrosities and take the first swings at them.

They're such different jobs, he's a bulldog prosecutor, also careful, fair, and IIRC he's never served as a judge. I'd love to see him as Attorney General.

I met him at the Power To The People festival. He was so gracious and patient with all who wanted to express their appreciation. I couldn’t believe it was him at first. Brave and brilliant!

Jack Smith will make a great head of the DOJ. Had our judicial system done the right thing allowing the cases against the orange stain to go forward we would not be in this mess & he would be in jail! VOTE BLUE UP & DOWN THE TICKET. END THE CORRUPTION & CHAOS OF THIS REGIME & THE REPUBLICAN PARTY.

Can we please stop blaming Jack Smith for the obstruction of Trump-appointed federal judges like Eileen Cannon that torpedoed his case? That shit is way out of his control. That's our control. Voters. But too many puritopian dipshits couldn't bring themselves to vote for the highly qualified women.

Absolutely the wrong choice. We need an institutionalist to rebuild institutions: we need Jack Smith as congressionally approved special counsel with all necessary powers and money to go after the criminal enterprise that is DJTrump and associates.

Seriously, yeah. Garland was a judge and overly cautious. An AG must wake up every morning fired up to bring criminal scum to justice. Val Demmings or Tish James would be most excellent.

Could you imagine Senator Kennedy trying to grill James at her confirmation? She would chew his dumb faux-Cajun ass up and spit it out without breaking a sweat. And Demmings is no shrinking flower either.

I want Jack Smith warming up in the Bullpen on 1/19/29. Nominated for AG on 1/21/29, & confirmed by Senate by 1/30/29. He needs to have a Special Prosecutor in mind to try Trump's Classified documents theft & Jan. 6th Insurrection cases ASAP. It won't be like the prep work isn't already done.

I do not want a liberal attorney general any more than I want a conservative attorney general. I want a neutral attorney general who goes after those who break the law regardless of which political party they are associated with, or how much money they have. I would like the law to apply to everyone

Especially not another Republican? Please? He was hand picked by Bill Barr. Why not just choose Merrick Garland again, if you want a guy Trump's AG thought would be easily rolled.

If he seems hesitant, I'll fundraise for his season tickets to the Mystics. Maybe we can get the next commish to jiggle the schedule so that all their games against Indiana are Mystics home games?

The quality of Jack Smith, is that he IS truly neutral. Additionally he is both ethical and methodical; but most importantly, immune to the corrupting rot of desire and greed to reach his goals. I'd like to see him as AG with the proviso that once his term ended he is placed in the SCOTUS!

Funny how Biden turned out to be so ignorant. Played everything old school. Even thought that the people would not vote Trump again. His attitude and approach will be a big part of this piece of history. As in how not to deal with a corrupt former president.

It goes back further than this. When McConnell denied Obama his SCOTUS pick, the GOP really showed their hand as to what they were capable of. I'd also like a thorough investigation as to how The Felon "won" his re-election. The combo of winning *all* the swing states with Elno at his side 1/2

The truth is there were NOT shenanigans in 2024 . . . it was as free & fair as other elections . . . Sad to say there really were that many racists & misogynists who refused to vote for a black woman . . . they justified Trump with “his 1st term wasn’t THAT bad, we survived it!” 🤦‍♀️

He did a great job, I love the guy. But filing in Florida was a mistake. A neutral, beige mistake that cost the whole ball of wax. Half the shit happened in D.C. He made a tactical error. He is out.

Part of me wants this. More of me wants him to be allowed to finish prosecuting the job he started. But either would be excellent!!

Basically, someone who is willing to litigate novel legal concepts, like whether a statute of limitations can be paused during a presidency, or whether some pardons are corrupt obstructions of justice.

Allison was being polite, albeit, her complaint about yet another Dem prez picking a milquetoast to be US AG is valid. WTF Joe. Let's not ruffle any feathers?! Seriously, Dwumpy picked attack dogs to be his US AG. Fortunately they were as smart as your typical Rottweiler, all teeth, no planning.

I think that's exactly why Allison put the word in quotation marks. Any Republican (and probably a few Democrats--looking especially at you, Fetterman) is going to see Smith as being very biased, simply because he views Trump's crimes as crimes.

I dont want neutral I want someone who hates republicans and wants them imprisoned, especially the crooks in DOJ, the crypto bribers, Elon musk, trumps children, Stephen miller and so on

I don't want someone who has a bias against Republicans. I want someone who had a bias against crime. (Yes, I realize it's very easy to equate Republican with criminal, especially when over 99% of elected Republicans are criminals, or are accessories after the fact to crimes.)

So you want a doj that investigates people like Ilhan Omar for no reason, got it bsky.app/profile/neus...

neuse river hag@neuseriverhag.bsky.social

they keep investigating her because they view her assertion of her equal rights as a provocation that must be criminal somehow. biden's DOJ spent their time on this instead of going after trump associates who broke the law on live tv, you should probably be mad about that

The fecklessness of Merrick Garland still blows my mind. I have never understood how a person could get that job, be presented with a shooting gallery of cartoonish villains, and do absolutely nothing.

A wonderful campaign feature for the DEM candidate to distinguish him or herself from the rest, may be to have a full dream cabinet listing so that after the election, it could be all set very quickly and no big delay before getting the approvals for those who would accept positions! 1/2

Then the president-elect could concentrate on only those positions unfilled due to unavailability of the first pick! It would get things moving much more quickly without huge delays for rushed vetting of the choices. And would make the candidate stand out as being open as to direction intended! end

Well I wouldn’t include myself in that group AG…not even close. But I’m a conservative and it seems to me that the way out of 6-3 or 5-4 is to win elections. Hard to be sure! But don’t tell me it’s not do-able 🤙

IMO, Jack Smith is handcuffed on Day 1. Anything he would do is going to be labeled retribution by Republicans. Best to get someone without any skin in the game for Attorney General.

This is precisely what happened to Garland and why he was a bad pick. Any move he made was going to be perceived as retribution for his tanked SCOTUS nomination….and likely why he was overly cautious.

At least Smith has conviction so I doubt he'd be as bad as Garland, but holy shit would that ever be making the same mistake again. If we've seen anything from AOC, Mamdani and El-Sayed it's that the public & the system are craving young voices. No rehashes!

I really wish that Presidential candidates were presented as a team that included their cabinet instead of the one person with a bag of surprises.

Absolutely! But first we get rid of Schumer and Jeffries because THEY won’t do diddley-shit. We need strong (vengeful?) leadership in Congress. Not the spineless Netanyahu employees.

No. He's the wrong man for the job. He failed to move for Judge Cannon's DQ in the espionage case. If he had it's very likely that case would have resolved differently, and we'd have avoided a 2nd Trump administration altogether.
