Also mutes take alt text into account. If you mute a word and it shows up in alt text, you won't see that post. I deeply appreciate people who use alt text!

Hi, I’m a sighted alt text user! Here are some reasons I use it: - Slow Internet on an airplane - I’m over 40, I have no idea who that celebrity is - Bluesky broke images again - My vision sucks and that text is too small to read otherwise - Conveys further context and authorial intent

Someone once replied to me saying this with some version of "so maybe I don't want it to get muted, this way you'll see it" and that was one of the most revealing comments I've ever gotten.

Person is obviously a jerkwad, but this kind of response mystifies me. What did they intend to accomplish by saying that to you? Are they just collecting blocks? Or did they expect you to say "Oh, well then, that's OK"?
