Something that is mentioned in this article that I meant to comment on and then went to eat breakfast: Prime wants content that brings new subs. So their entire TV model is (by their reports) "if this TV show appeals heavily to our existing audience, it is worthless" Not sure that's great?!?

Sadly the mud is now all subscription-based, but if you sign up to Mud+ With Dolby Surround Sound (With Ads) at just $24.99/mo you at least get to hear the bubbles and gurgles from all corners of the room.

So they bring in new people and one season later don’t care about those people because they are no longer new?!?! That is the mos ridiculous business model ever. Every sales training I’ve ever had says it’s easier to keep existing customers than constantly bring in new ones

It's not that they thought it brought new viewers. The speculation is that this show had the strongest appeal to middle age women. The think we are already Amazon Prime customers for the shipping on all the shopping we do. The Video side of Prime doesn't want to "waste" money on existing customers.

Ah. Not existing video customers. Got it. Still seems ridiculous since those women have friends they might recommend. But Amazon probably doesn’t care about middle aged women.

Well see, if you give the constituency what they want, that’s “socialism.” But If you only want to make more money that’s “capitalism” and that’s what makes us free. 🙄
