the gamer entitlement is fucking insane. they're yelling at a developer who has spent a decade of his time writing Dolphin and PPSSPP for using Claude to build a prototype. the same people who don't pay for their emulator, certainly don't pay for ROMs are entitled to bully developers now?

no idea where this antisocial norm comes from, that it's okay to bully developers if they make a choice you don't like, that you're entitled to throw your shit whenever. behaving like literal children, throwing a tantrum

I feel like the Nazi bar tweet permanently warped online leftist behavior (because once you see everything as a form of Naziism, every attack becomes not only morally justified but morally obligatory)

I find it really interesting that there aren't more anti-ai people who have decided to learn to program. It seems the obvious thing to do. If you don't want to use AI tech, learn how to build and adjust stuff yourself. Instead it's just weird complaining about how people don't do free stuff now.

Wait, I just realised I may have misunderstood. Sorry. By “it’s unworkable bullshit” did you mean that they realise the complaints are not good faith criticism?

I suspect poor self efficacy. I’ve been thinking about it recently, and that’s what I keep landing on. I wonder if people don’t know how to learn on their own, and don’t know how to get started on a new skill. It turns out the barrier is often lower than expected, but it’s hard to know that.

I don’t mean expertise here - that’s a long and hard journey, often of many years, requiring strong dedication and drive. But it’s interesting how good you can get at something in a few months of consistent effort. I wonder if people don’t know how to start.

I have a fringe theory that millions cooked their brains on Discord during lockdown by getting into/dating giant toxic group chats full of gamers and developers, which caused them to absorb their worst personality traits while also hating tech by association for the rest of their lives
